The largest sporting event in New York State happens when the Nascar Racers come to Watkins Glen International. In excess of 100,000 people attend to watch the thrills and spills of these modern day gladiators.

The weekend climaxes with the Sprint Cup race, featuring drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and this years winner Kyle Busch.

It is a beautiful thing when it all comes together. Three times a year The Rockwell Museum of Western Art hosts 'Sunsets and Margaritas' . They open up the balcony on the 3rd floor, set up talented local musicians and sell very nice Margaritas. They also provide a south western touch with tri-color nacho chips and dips.

Sunday evening saw rain clouds gathering over the Southern Tier. The multi-hued clouds provided an impressive background for the Corning City Hall.

The warm weather finally convinced the daffodils and narcissus to open in the Peace Garden in Corning today.

It was unusual to see the Welsh flag flying over here in the US. Quite often we see the Union Flag (UK) or Canadian, Italian or Irish. The Welsh Dragon was seen here flying outside the London Underground Restaurant on Market Street in Corning.

Last weekend the fir trees up at Spencer Crest Nature Center above Corning were leaning over with the weight of ice on them. Sunday was a beautiful sunny day (very cold though) and made for an amazing walk through a glistening Winter Wonderland.
